Over on the Time.com mainpage, I have my weekly Going Green column, this time on the rise of the food movement. It was inspired by the TEDx Manhattan conference on sustainable food that I attended over the weekend, and specifically by something said by Brian Halweil—a senior fellow at the Worldwatch Institute and the publisher and editor of Edible Manhattan and Edible East End. Haliweil noted that while the environmental movement had hit a wall in recent months, the food movement—broadly defined—was surging. As foodies mature—shifting from championing good food to championing good policy—the movement might even be able to achieve some of the goals that environmentalists have failed to reach. Check out the piece here.
